Bit of a different blog post tonight, but why not broaden my horizons? I have always struggled with eating certain things, like meat, dairy and too many carbs. So this year I embarked on changing my diet to vegan along with my kids too, (let me tell you they weren't too impressed with the idea but they agreed... well.. kind of.)
So how did the start of this journey play out? Not so positively to be honest, it involved hours of reading labels in supermarkets, joining countless groups on Facebook, along with the same amount of time reading through replies from some amazing and informative people, then at the end of the day still looking in my kitchen and wondering what I was going to make to eat. A bit of back story here, I am good at cooking, however I haven't ever really enjoyed it so adding to the task of trying to change our diet didn't help that matter.
One day I realised that this was going to take time, a positive outlook, a whole lot of faith and changing parts of my diet one bit at a time. Kind of like how I changed my life to finding myself through spirituality. Tried to jump both feet first got overwhelmed then had to take a step back and figure out what resonated with me and what would serve me best at that time. Going vegan certainly helped me see that I have a tendency to jump 2 feet in and completely overwhelm myself. It has helped me approach life differently, not just with being mindful of what I put in/on my body ( all make up/deodorant/toothpaste/cleaning products etc are all vegan too), but also to be mindful when making decisions on business, personal or other parts of my life.
It always amazes me how you can embark on a journey in one area of your life and it had a domino effect on other parts too. I never once thought turning vegan would result in me finding out I have a wheat intolerance, or find see certain behaviour that needed me to look at and work on so my life ran more smoothly and less stressed. Of course there are amazing health benefits that go hand in hand with eating such a diet, along with over all feeling so much better within.
I would like to also state that I firmly believe in balance, I don't sit and eat carrot sticks and lettuce for every meal. There are so many a different meals you can have, but just healthier versions of what people would call 'normal' food. For instance the beautiful vegan/homemade pizza that we had for tea. Wheat free pizza base (stone baked), topped with so many veggies, I was in food HEAVEN!!!

(^^^ food heaven right here)
My message for this blog..? Take a step in the direction your soul pulls you, you will be surprised at what shows up and how much change can happen in just a few months! ( Also, if you eat meat or dairy or wheat... great!! I am not here to judge or tell you that you are wrong for doing so.)
Stay awesome beautiful souls. Our world needs you
